Ornithocephalus patentilobus C.Schweinf. 1947

This orchid was photographed at the 2023 Puerto Rico Orchid show at the Caguas botanical gardens.  The plant is mounted and its fan shaped growths hang from the mount.  Its flowers are small and complex.

I wonder how this Ornithocephalus has been grown to flower so beautifully? I have this orchid, it was in a tiny terracotta pot in sphagnum for about the first year or so. On the windowsill. Did nothing. I got a terrarium, put a bunch of plants in it, including this one. Put the little pot in there, nothing. Finally I took it out of the pot and mounted on a piece of bark with a little sphagnum. And it has lost a few leaves. I've let it dry out, i've kept it moist. low of 60 high in the mid 70's with LED grow light. It's off to the side so it's not under the bright light. One day I hope I understand the needs of this plant so I can meet them! LOL
